My Vast Knowledge of Nothing

Why I Love my Beretta M9

with 2 comments

As my first gun, there were many things I didn’t know before purchasing. The Beretta M9 was simply love at first touch when I picked it up in my hand for the very first time. My intention was to buy a good 9mm that I would keep forever and spend my time and money on higher caliber handguns. I don’t plan to change any parts.

  1. It feels like a gun. I honestly don’t like polymer framed handguns because they feel like plastic, specifically the Glock G17. I love the heat spread all the way to the grip after firing ten rounds into the target.
  2. The grip is perfect. The Glock G17′s grip is way too angled for me and in some ways feels too small. The M9 was made for the U.S. Military, and I probably have the same build as most men in the military, tall and skinny, and so I feel the grip was made just for me.
  3. It looks like a gun. It doesn’t look like a square like the XD9 or G17. To me it’s a piece of art. I love how the barrel is exposed and the top is more cylindrically shaped.
  4. Double Action/Single Action. I love the first single action because I usually hit the bullseye, though I wish it was always single action. I can also practice my trigger pull using a snap cap without re-cocking it every time such as on striker fired action pistols.
  5. When the slide is locked & open after finishing your last mag, you can slam a new magazine in really hard, closing the slide and cocking the handgun into single action! Thanks Hank for telling me this! This means you don’t have to press the slide catch or pull the slide to put a bullet in the chamber before firing. Only problem is that you have to slam the magazine in really hard.
